Circumstances of Disappearance:
Rumi KataokaHana was abducted from Newark, New Jersey on December 17, 2005. She resided in Newark with her father, Jay Scordato, and her mother, Rumi Kataoka (photo at right). Kataoka scheduled a trip to visit her native Japan in December 2005, and took Hana with her. She refused to return Hana to the U.S. after the vacation ended, and has not allowed Hana any contact with her father. They are believed to be living in Kani City, Gifu, Japan, with members of Kataoka's family. There is an active bench warrant out for Kataoka's arrest in the U.S., and Hana's abduction remains unsolved.
