Circumstances of Disappearance: |
Unknown. Jody's photo is shown aged to 39 years. On the day of her disappearance, Jody had an argument with her boyfriend and other boys over accompanying them somewhere. When the boys said no, Jody walked to a friend's house where she called her mother for a ride home. Since her mother did not have her car, Jody said she would find a ride. When Jody went missing, her mother called Jody's juvenile caseworker. The caseworker prepared two warrants listing her as an endangered juvenile whom police were to arrest. The mother thought the warrants also meant that authorities had filed a missing persons report with police. She later found that the police were never notified. Because of the misunderstanding, it was two years after Jody disappeared before police began their investigation. In 1997, Kansas City police reclassified the missing persons case as a homicide. Her case remains unsolved. |
