Identifying Characteristics:
Karen has scars on her left foot and on her abdomen.  She has a surgical scar on her left knee.  She wore a retainer on her lower teeth and has a wide gap between her upper front teeth.  Her right index finger was severed in a sewing accident and reattached.  She occasionally walks with a limp because of a cleft foot.  One of her ankles was reconstructed as a result of prosthesis during her childhood.  Her left ear is pierced three times on the earlobe, with an additional piercing in the upper cartilage.  Smith's right ear is pierced twice in the earlobe.
Clothing/Jewelry:
She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray Indiana University sweatshirt, white socks, possibly wearing a black hooded thigh-length leather coat with a gold satin lining.  Also wearing a pink marquise ring with a gold stripe across the stone, a gold ring with 17 diamonds on a cross band.
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Steve HalcombUnknown. Karen Jo was last seen at 10:30 p.m. on December 27, 2000, at her residence.  Karen's ex-husband, Steve Halcomb (pictured at right), was convicted of Karen's murder on December 15th, 2004 and is now serving 95 years.  Karen's remains have never been found.
