Circumstances of Disappearance: |
Unknown. Her photo is shown age-progressed to 38 years. She missed her morning bus to Saratoga Springs Junior High School on west Circular street in Saratoga Springs, New York on April 19, 1986. She told her sister she would hitch a ride to school instead. She never arrived at school and has never been heard from again. In February 2011, authorities made an announcement stating that they believed she had been murdered and had identified her probable killer as Arthur Mason Slaybaugh II. He was a corrections officer in Winton, New York and died of a heart attack in 2001. McCormick knew him and thought of him as a mentor. He had long been considered a person of interest in her case, but had little evidence until after his death, when witnesses came forward with information they had been afraid to disclose before. Due to the circumstances involved, foul play is suspected. |
