Circumstances of Disappearance: |
  Unknown. Teresa was last seen at
her residence in the vicinity of the 9500 block of West Chenango Avenue
in Denver, Colorado. She was reported missing by her employer at Emily Griffith Opportunity School after she failed to show up for work, which was unlike her. She left behind a teenage daughter and two adult children. Her husband, Frank Schilt (photos at right) also disappeared on March 14, 2006 and was a person of interest in Teresa's case since he had told inconsistent stories about Teresa's disappearance to his daughter and to others. He left Denver to drive to a job interview in Little Rock, Arkansas and did not return as scheduled. He was found and arrested in March 2006 and was charged with murdering his wife. He confessed to Teresa's murder and told police that there was a confrontation in the bedroom on February 25, and that he pushed his wife, who hit her head on the headboard of the bed. Her remains were kept in the trunk of their car for a period of days. Frank stated that he put Teresa's body into garbage bags, and then disposed of the remains in a dumpster in an alley. He then discarded other bloodied items in various areas in metro Denver. Then, he tried to commit suicide in his home with carbon monoxide. His 15-year-old daughter was home at the time, and became very ill; Frank was charged with attempted murder of his daughter after this fact was revealed. Frank Schilt was sentenced to 44 years in prison in August of 2007. Teresa's body has not been found. |
